How SiteSmart simplified SiteWise prequalification for LockSmart

How one small Auckland locksmith business made health and safety paperwork simpler and turned their SiteWise prequalification score around.

The challenge

LockSmart is a locksmith business based in Auckland and working across the wider region. Like a lot of small businesses, they were juggling health and safety requirements across multiple sites and different property managers, and it was starting to feel like a lot.

The team is big on doing the right thing and pushing back on the idea that health and safety doesn’t matter for locksmiths. But day-to-day, the paperwork and evidence needed for different clients was hard to keep organised and that made it tricky to stay on top of what was needed.

They’d tried other platforms, but they were expensive, over-complicated, and didn’t make things easier. One option cost thousands of dollars and still didn’t give their team a practical way to manage health and safety.

The turning point

Things came to a head after LockSmart’s first SiteWise assessment came back with a disappointing score. Co-owner Nicola Hunt didn’t want to just tick the box, she wanted to understand what would lift their performance.

“The amount of time and care put in was incredible. It felt like they were working with us,” explains Nicola.

SiteSmart has also made SiteWise prequalification much simpler. Nicola can now quickly pull together evidence, see what’s missing, and share the right documents when they’re needed.

That’s meant less time chasing paperwork, less frustration, and a big improvement on their SiteWise score. Just as importantly, the assessment feedback is easier to act on because Nicola can see, in one place, what needs attention next.

“When it goes into SiteSmart, we can now download all the documents we have and just e-mail them,” explains Nicola.

“It puts it all in one place and highlights exactly what you need to do. We can also see what we have to work on for the year. It's just easy.”
