Changes proposed to hazardous substance regs
29 Nov 2019
A number of minor amendments have been proposed for the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017.
Submissions on the 39 proposed amendments close on January 15 and the full list of are available on the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) website.
WorkSafe says the amendments affect the storage or handling of toxic or corrosive chemicals, the storage of LPG, paints and flammable liquids or diesel tank systems.
“These amendments aim to correct a number of technical issues that have arisen under the regulations.
WorkSafe says these issues have made some requirements unclear, and are creating extra compliance costs for some businesses without improving safety.
