Consultants now have two new e-learning modules to choose from when it comes to renewing their Site Safety Card with Site Safe.

Flexi modules – Influencing Safety and Legislation – have been specially designed for Consultants who have completed a Foundation Passport Consultant.

“We’ve got our Foundation Passport Consultant’s course and we were finding people were coming back every two years to renew their qualification and were often doing the same course,” says Site Safe chief executive Brett Murray.

“We felt we needed to come up with something that we could offer the Consultants  which added more value to our current Passport Plus Flexi learning options.”

He says there has been plenty of consultation with industry to come up with courses that are both relevant and interesting.

Each course is four hours long - two hours are an in-class behavioural session and two hours are via the e-Learning Portal that people can do in their own time from wherever they are.

The two-hour in-class session introduces learners to essential health and safety principles, including:

  • Reasons for being safe and how to take action on-site
  • How to shape health and safety culture through positive conversations
  • Understanding the basic risks and responsibilities of working on site
  • Improving health and safety awareness on site

The content of the e-learning modules is designed to be informative and engaging,  giving  Consultants practical information they can use in their workplace.

The Consultants Influencing Safety module covers a range of issues such as who is a designer, the concepts and benefits of safety in design, understanding a design project lifecycle and understanding the “Three Cs” of Consulting, Cooperating and Coordinating.

For the Consultants Legislation module key points include understanding the Health and Safety at Work Act (HSWA) 2015, interpreting HSWA terminology and understanding the benefits of the Act, and also the costs of not complying with it.

Mr Murray  says the modules will appeal to the wide range of people who qualify as consultants -  architects, engineers, interior designers, landscape architects, town planners, building service designers, temporary work engineers and planners.
