Passport - Horticulture

This entry level course covers the essentials of health and safety. You’ll learn to keep yourself and others safe, get practical support to start working safely, and earn a Site Safey Card.

Who this course is for

This course is for anyone who is:

  • About to enter or are new to the New Zealand horticulture industry.
  • Unfamiliar with the basics of health and safety on a horticulture site.

Online courses can be started immediately. You have 60 days to complete the learning from the date the course was booked.

What you'll learn

You will learn how to:

  • Keep yourself healthy and safe onsite.
  • Promote good mental health.
  • Comply with Health and Safety at Work Act (2015) by providing a safe workplace, training, and fostering a positive safety culture.
  • Promote a healthy and safe working environment in the horticulture industry.

Assessment

At the end of the course, you'll complete a quick 'Review of Understanding'. This is a set of multiple-choice questions that check your understanding of the key concepts learned during the course.

What you'll get

On completion of the course requirements, you’ll receive:

  • A Site Safety Card (valid for two years). The Site Safety Card will include a green 'Horticulture' indicator so anyone can see that foundational level training has been completed.
