Upcoming changes to the Health and Safety in Construction Programme

13 Aug 2025

From 1 January 2026, our Foundation and Passport Plus courses will no longer be able to contribute credits towards our Health and Safety in Construction Programme.

The courses impacted are:

  • Foundation courses: Passport - Building Construction, Passport - Civil, and Passport - Consultants
  • Passport Plus courses: Heights, Tools and Plant, Worker Health, Flexi

What does this mean for our learners?

  • Learners who complete their HSCP qualification by 31 December 2025, will still be able to have any of the above courses credited towards the programme.
  • For learners who finish after 1 January 2026, these courses will not be credited, and they will need to choose an alternative course to make up the credits from our wide range of options that meet NZQA’s academic requirements.

Why is this change happening?

NZQA has agreed to the time frame of 31 December 2025 to remove these courses from the programme to reduce the impact of current programme participants as much as possible.

What should affected learners do next?

  • If you currently have more than 25 credits, you are well on your way and should be able to complete the HSCP by 31 December 2025. We strongly encourage you to continue at your pace to complete the programme, so that any Foundation or Passport Plus courses can still count towards your qualification.
  • If you think you may not finish by the end of 2025, please consider enrolling in one of our other high-quality courses. You can find the full list on our website:

Our Learner Support team is always here to help, and we encourage affected learners to reach out if they’d like to discuss their options, need advice, or simply have questions about their pathway to completion.
