WorkSafe releases first details of Approved Codes of Practice for residential construction
08 Feb 2026
We’re pleased to see WorkSafe sharing updates with everyone in the industry as the draft Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) for residential construction takes shape. The current draft, called the Approved Code of Practice for Roles and Responsibilities in Residential Construction, is all about making it clearer who does what, and how we manage risks, in one of Aotearoa’s highest risk sectors.
It’s great to see this work being guided by sector experts, including Site Safe representatives who have been actively involved as part of the Reference Group. WorkSafe has recognised the value of industry knowledge, real-world experience, and specialist input from organisations like ours to help create clear and workable codes that support safer work for everyone.
We’ll keep you updated as this work progresses, especially when there’s a chance for you to have your say during the consultation phase. We’re committed to working alongside WorkSafe to ensure this mahi reflects what is practical on the ground.
