This half-day course covers the essentials of health and safety. You’ll learn to keep yourself and others safe, get practical support to start working safely, and earn a Site Safey Card.

Who this course is for
This course is for anyone who is:
- New to the New Zealand construction industry.
- Unfamiliar with the basics of health and safety on a construction site.
- Workers, contractors and managers in the civil industry.
- Anyone working in drainage, who are civil engineers or quantity surveyors.
- Anyone who has not completed a Site Safe Passport course before.
If you are renewing your Site Safety Card and have done this course in the past, you don't need to complete this course again. Expand your knowledge by choosing from one of our great Passport Plus courses instead.
What you'll learn
You will learn how to:
- Keep yourself healthy and safe onsite.
- Identify and apply controls for hazards and risks.
- Understand your legal responsibilities.
- Promote good mental health.
- Conduct inspections of mechanical plant, PPE and harnesses.
- Identify asbestos, dust, spills and contaminated soil.
- Slinging and rigging.
- Excavations and trenches.
- Working on the road.
Assessment
At the end of the course, you'll complete a quick Review of Understanding. This is a set of multiple-choice questions that check your understanding of the key concepts learned during the course.
What you'll get
On completion of the course requirements, you’ll receive:
- A Site Safety Card, with the green foundation indicator, valid for two years. (Most major New Zealand contractors require workers to have a valid Site Safety Card before entering a construction site).
- Four Licensed Building Practitioner points.
