VR Courses now available at Site Safe centres across New Zealand

26 Sep 2023

Site Safe’s VR Foundation Passport Building Construction and Civil courses are now available to book in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch.

We would like to say a special thank you to the Ministry of Social Development (MSD), who worked with us and industry to make VR health and safety training come to life as a new way for learners to gain their digital Site Safety Card.

The VR Foundation Passport courses were developed in collaboration with New Zealand VR enterprise SkillsVR and the Ministry of Social Development (MSD), with valuable input from the industry and internal and external subject matter experts.

Since its launch with MSD in September 2022, over 1000 job-seekers and construction workers have completed the VR courses and gained their digital Site Safety Card, assisting them in their search for employment in the construction industry.

VR training is a safe way to introduce health and safety concepts to those new to construction through a fully immersive, virtual environment. Using headsets and controllers, learners walk through a virtual site and complete tasks such as hazard and risk identification, personal protective equipment (PPE) selection, and identifying how to keep themselves and others safe onsite.
