With Mental Health Awareness Week coming up soon, we want to share some upcoming initiatives from other organisations and remind you about some mental health resources that are currently available through Site Safe.

Fly the Flag for suicide prevention with MATES in Construction

Coinciding with World Suicide Prevention Day, During the week of 4th-10th September, MATES in Construction want you to “Fly the Flag” to raise awareness of the importance of talking about mental health and suicide prevention across the construction industry.

Get involved by flying the MATES flag to show your support, organizing an event or fundraiser to spread the word it’s OK to talk about mental health and wellbeing, and sharing the message on social media by tagging @matesinconstructionnewzealand and using the hashtag #FLYTHEFLAG2023

Mental Health Awareness Week – 18-24 September

Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW) is run each year by the Mental Health Foundation. MHAW is an annual campaign that works to help Kiwis understand what boosts their wellbeing and improves their mental health.

This years MHAW theme is ‘Five Ways, Five Days’ – a proven set of tools to boost our mental health when we need it.

Mental Health First Aid in Construction course

Site Safe has partnered with Hato Hone St John to deliver a mental health first aid course designed to raise awareness of mental health issues that workers are faced with in the construction and wider industry. 

This course is suitable for anyone, including managers responsible for their staff, those interacting with the public, or those who want to improve their knowledge around mental health.

Mental Health and Stress Pocket Guides

These handy mental health and stress pocket guides provide practical tips on how to have a conversation about mental health and identify the signs of stress.
